Bigdata.com is now live in ChatGPT
June 2026•Dan Benitez, SVP of Product, Bigdata.com
Institutional-grade financial data meets the world’s largest AI platform.
ChatGPT is the most-used AI assistant on the planet. By most measures, it has roughly 100 times more users than any other AI chat product. And starting today, all of them can connect to Bigdata.com directly inside ChatGPT through MCP, getting the same institutional-grade financial data that previously required purpose-built tooling or a Bloomberg terminal sitting next to your browser.
The connector is live now and the setup takes only a few minutes. It closes the gap that has always existed between ChatGPT’s reasoning capability and the quality of financial data it can actually draw on.
What changes
ChatGPT is a strong reasoner: it can synthesize a complex situation, explain nuance, and move quickly across topics. But financial research lives and dies on the quality of its underlying data and GPT with standard web search leaves a lot on the table: stale earnings figures, unverified news snippets, and no clean path back to a primary source.
That’s the gap Bigdata.com fills. Once connected, ChatGPT can reach directly into:
- Over a billion financial documents: fundamentals, filings, earnings transcripts, premium news
- Real-time news feeds from trusted institutional sources
- Structured, deterministic data for fundamentals, earnings, and pricing
- 20+ years of archive depth, purpose-built for financial search and retrieval
- Premium source attribution on every claim - named source, date, and URL
- Financial-domain NLP built on RavenPack’s institutional infrastructure
What ChatGPT can now do
The ChatGPT connector ships with ten tools available today, with two more coming shortly:
- search and fetch - financial document search and full-content retrieval
- find_securities and get_securities - equity and fund identification
- bigdata_company_tearsheet - full company profiles with financials and news
- bigdata_etf_tearsheet - fund facts, holdings, and performance
- bigdata_sentiment_tearsheet - RavenPack-powered sentiment analysis
- bigdata_market_tearsheet - cross-asset market snapshot
- bigdata_country_tearsheet - macroeconomic and sectoral country profiles
- bigdata_events_calendar - upcoming earnings, dividends, and corporate events
Coming soon: bigdata_get_credit_factor and bigdata_screen_credit_factor, which will let users screen and rank companies by credit risk signals.
Who it’s most useful for
The benefit is greatest for anyone in finance who currently switches between ChatGPT and a separate data terminal: analysts pulling earnings transcripts, portfolio managers tracking guidance shifts, data teams who need every output auditable back to a primary source. The connector doesn’t change how you use ChatGPT, it just means you don’t have to leave the conversation to verify what it’s telling you.
Given that ChatGPT has a vastly larger user base than any other AI chat product, this is also a significant distribution milestone for institutional financial data more broadly. For the first time, the data layer that professionals have relied on for decades is accessible inside the tool most people already use every day.
What’s next: Codex integration
OpenAI is expanding Codex beyond coding and into general knowledge work - - plugin integrations will be key to this unlock, and we’re actively working toward getting our plugin listed. As we are within the Claude ecosystem.
