This Cookie Policy explains how Bigdata.com (hereinafter, the “Website”) uses cookies and similar tracking technologies on our mobile application (hereinafter, the “App”) Website (collectively, the “Services”). This policy is designed to help you understand what cookies are, how we use them, and your choices regarding their use.

This Cookie Policy should be read in conjunction with our Privacy Policy which explains how we process and protect your personal data. We are committed to complying with applicable U.S. privacy laws (such as the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA)) and the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

WHAT ARE COOKIES?

Cookies are small text files that websites visited by the user send and store on the user’s computer, smartphone or other internet-enabled device and are then sent back to the same websites the next time the user visits. It is thanks to cookies that a website remembers the user’s actions and preferences (e.g., login details, language, font size, etc.), so that these do not have to be indicated again when the user returns to that same website or navigates from one page to another.

Cookies are therefore used to carry out computer authentication, monitor sessions and store information about the activities of users accessing a website. They may also contain a unique identification code that enables the tracking of the user’s navigation within the website for statistical or advertising purposes.

While browsing a website, the user may receive on his/her computer so-called “first party” cookies – if installed directly by the website administrator – but also cookies from websites or web servers other than the one he/she is visiting (“third party” cookies), installed on the terminal by a party other than the website administrator.

There are various types of cookies, depending on their characteristics and functions, which may remain on the user’s computer for different periods of time. In this sense, a distinction is made between so-called session cookies, which are automatically deleted when the browser is closed, and so-called persistent cookies, which remain on the user’s device until a preestablished expiry date.

TYPES OF COOKIES USED BY THE WEBSITE AND THE APP

We use different types of cookies on our Services:

Technical Cookies

Session/navigation cookies: the use of so-called session cookies (which are not permanently stored on the user’s computer and disappear when the browser is closed) is strictly limited to the transmission of session identifiers (consisting of random numbers generated by the server) necessary to enable the safe and efficient exploration of the Website/App and its applications. These cookies do not require the user’s consent and, in any case, cannot be unselected, as they are strictly necessary to enable the Website/App to function.

Persistent cookies: persistent cookies remain on the device even after leaving the Website/App, until the user deletes them or, in any case, until their expiry date is reached. The Website/App creates this type of cookie and stores it on the device so that it can be read when the user visits the Website/App again. This makes it possible, for example, to find the preferences that have been set on subsequent visits to the Website/App. These cookies do not require the user’s consent and, in any case, cannot be unselected, as they are strictly necessary for the Website/App to function.

Analytical and Performance Cookies

Cookies installed to collect aggregate information of a mainly statistical nature (e.g. analyze performance, identify technical issues, optimize usability, etc.). This helps to improve the speed, functionality, and overall experience of our Services.

First party analytical cookies: comparable to technical cookies as they are installed directly from the Website/App being visited to improve its usability.

Third-Party Analytical Cookies: cookies created and installed by third parties in order to analyse users’ browsing, to compile statistics on the visits, to improve the offer of contents and to show similar products.

Profiling Cookies

Cookies used to track the user’s navigation on the web and create profiles based on his tastes, habits, choices, etc. With these cookies, advertising messages can be transmitted to the user’s terminal in line with the preferences already expressed by the user when browsing online.

First party profiling cookies: used and installed by the Website/App to collect information on the user’s browsing habits with the aim of proposing advertising messages that are as relevant as possible to his interests. This means that they are also used to limit the number of times the user displays a specific advertisement. While browsing the Website/App, promotional cookies allow confirmation that the user is consulting advertising messages, showing him promotional content that may be of interest to him based on what he has previously visited.

Third party profiling cookies: used and installed by third parties to track the user’s navigation on the web and create profiles on his tastes, habits, choices. These cookies are managed by third party companies. On the Website/App you can also find social buttons/widgets, which are those particular “buttons” depicting the icons of social networks (e.g., LinkedIn, Twitter, etc). These “buttons” allow users who are browsing the Website/App to reach and interact with social networks with a “click”. By clicking on the social buttons/widgets, the social network acquires data relating to the user’s visit to the Website/App and, at the same time, releases its own profiling cookies.

Please note that third parties – administrators of the respective cookies installed on the Website – act as independent data controllers of the data collected through their respective cookies.

Functional Cookies

Cookies employed to enhance the user experience by remembering choices made during previous visits, thereby facilitating a more personalized and efficient interaction with the Website/App. These cookies may store preferences such as language settings, display configurations, or login credentials, ensuring that users do not need to re-enter information on subsequent visits.

GOOGLE CONSENT MODE V2 AND MICROSOFT CLARITY

The Website and the App use Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google LLC (“Google”), to collect aggregated and anonymized information for the purpose of analyzing and improving user experience.

The use of Google Analytics cookies is subject to the explicit consent of the user, provided via the initial cookie banner or the dedicated cookie settings panel. Specifically, through Google Consent Mode V2, the App dynamically manages the behavior of Google tags based on the user’s consent for the following categories:

• ad_storage: for storing advertising-related data

• analytics_storage: for analytics and performance tracking

• ad_user_data: for sharing user data with Google

• ad_personalization: for enabling personalized advertising

If consent is not given, Google will only receive anonymous pings (cookieless signals) and will not be able to identify the user or track their activity in a personalized way.

The Website also uses Microsoft Clarity, a behavioural analytics service provided by Microsoft Corporation (“Microsoft”), on the Website’s public landing pages only, to collect information such as clicks, scroll depth, mouse movement and session heatmaps, in order to analyse and improve user engagement with those pages. Microsoft Clarity is not deployed on the App or on any authenticated area of the Website.

Microsoft Clarity does not collect data entered into form fields or login fields, which are automatically masked. Its cookies are only set once the user has given consent to analytical cookies through the cookie banner described in Section 6 below; if consent is not given, Microsoft Clarity cookies are not installed. Microsoft acts as the data controller for the information collected through Microsoft Clarity. METHODS OF COLLECTING CONSENT FOR THE USE OF COOKIES

When accessing the Website or the App for the first time, the user is presented with a banner containing an initial brief information notice on cookies. The user is therefore immediately given the opportunity to express his or her preferences and wishes with regard to cookies. In particular:

• by clicking on the “Accept all” button, the user consents to the use of all cookies and other technologies present on the Website;

• by clicking on the “Only technical cookie” button or, alternatively, by clicking on the “X” at the top right of the Banner, the user does not consent to the installation of profiling and analytical cookies, for which the consent is required, and only technical will therefore be installed, for the installation of which the user’s consent is not required;

• by clicking on the “Customize” button, the user has the option of giving consent specifically for each category for which consent is required.

Through the ‘Manage cookies’ button in the website’s footer the user will always be able to change his or her preferences, granting or withdrawing his or her consent to the installation of cookies.

HOW TO CHANGE COOKIE SETTINGS?

Most Internet browsers are initially set to accept cookies automatically. This means that the user has the possibility, at any time, to set his browser to accept all cookies, only some of them, or to reject them all, disabling their use by the Website/App. In addition, the user can normally set his browser preferences so that he is notified whenever a cookie is stored on his computer. At the end of each browsing session, the user can also delete the cookies collected from the hard disk of his device.
